What are Google Ranking Factors?

What is ranking factor?

Ranking factor serves as an algorithm for search engines to crawl and rank sites. Ranking factor is a system of ranking your site based on what the site’s content is about, how often it has been viewed or shared, which sites refer traffic to the site, and social media shares. A good ranking factor comes when current trends of the website are on-point with what people want at any given time.

There are many ways to improve your ranking factor but it takes some time and knowledge in order to get things running smoothly. A few examples of ranking factors include but are not limited to: the domain name, content, security, and social media.

Domain name:

A domain name is your website address. Having a good domain will bring traffic to your site. Domain names consist of two main parts called TLDs (top level domains) and second level domains (SLDs). TLDs are typically .com or .net. SLDs would include the part of the website such as wordpress.com/blog or docs.com/.

The first step to improving the domain name is to find out what the TLDs are, such as Google will tell you or check for your desired TLD in the global zone file. Once you have that information it is easy to search for a domain name that is most appropriate for your website. Many sites also trade their domains every year as well, so make sure to look into this option if your domain name expires.

Content:

When creating content it is important to be honest and convey the message of your website. Honesty conveys credibility and trust. It is also a great way to build relationships with your readers. This can help you gain authority and a higher ranking factor on search engines.

Security:

Search engines use security as a ranking factor because they want their users to feel safe when using their website. The more secure your site is the better your ranking factor will be.

Social media:

Social media is a must to improve your ranking factor. Social media can help you gain authority, build relationships, and expand your audience. It will also allow you to share your content with readers. This can help them understand your website more and will increase the likelihood that they would like to follow you or share your page on social media platforms.

Take note that just because you have a good domain name and social media, it does not mean you have a good ranking factor. You must continuously monitor how search engine algorithms are viewed.

There are many other factors that could affect your ranking factor but these are just a few of the most important ones. Make sure to check out these factors before creating your content or developing your website.

Domain Authority

Domain authority is a score that predicts how well a website will rank on search engine results pages, but it also indicates how much traffic the site will drive.

By increasing your DA, you are essentially increasing the amount of traffic that your website receives.

Relevance

Relevance is the most critical factor in off-page optimization because of how search engines evaluate links. Google, for example, evaluates the quality, relevance, and reputation of the entity that provided the link. It also checks to see if your site has duplicate content and creates unique content relevant to your industry.

Site Traffic

A high amount of site visitors will signal search engines that your website is relevant and trustworthy. It also helps build your brand and make you an authoritative figure in your industry.

Link Quality

It’s essential to have high-quality links from websites that are relevant to yours. Low-quality links from irrelevant sites or websites with a low DA score will hurt your online presence and even get you deindexed by Google.
